Overview

The Communications Officer is responsible for providing communications and stakeholder engagement leadership to the Agency. The Communications Officer will work with the Senior Program Manager to support the work of the Agency in the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication strategy by collaborating, engaging, and working with stakeholders and across departments in a cooperative and accountable environment. The Communications Officer directly undertakes the production and dissemination of internal and external communication, media relations, promotion and publications production on behalf of the
Agency.

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Public Relations, Marketing or Business Administration Post-secondary degree or diploma in
    Business Administration or Human Resources
  • Three (3) years’ experience in public relations, graphic design, communications, & professional writing
  • Experience working with various office systems and equipment
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people, organizations and communities
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Other Requirements

  • Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Anishnawbek culture, traditions
    and the Seven Grandfather Teachings
  • Ability to understand and speak Anishnaabemowin is a definite asset
  • Must provide a Criminal Records Check deemed satisfactory by the employer
  • Must have a Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel'
  • Must have $1M automobile insurance coverage
